about

A collection of some of the first songs I ever recorded on my own, from ages 16-20 or 21 (2006-2010/2011 or so).

"Bring Me Home", "Dreamcatcher" and "In Heaven" were all recorded when I was 16 and 17.
"Bring Me Home" was the first song I remember just coming straight into to me, and I experimented with recording it right away. It's kinda silly with the drum machine but I love it still. I re-recorded it in 2019, on my Whole Again EP, and a newer newer version with other lines and descants will be on my first full length album coming someday.
"Dreamcatcher" was from a poem I wrote, I'll try to find the words or try to re-reverse the song so I can hear what the heck I'm singing.
"In Heaven" is a cover of the song from Eraserhead. I'm not sure if I ever actually enjoyed that movie or if I just thought I should think it was cool. I never want to see it again in my life. But I do love this song.

"Cello Song" was recorded when I was 19, here's the accompanying shaky stop motion movie I made with it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FD9vNAxAeiU

"Sung To Life" and "How Good to Be" were recorded a year or two later when I was 20 or 21, just with my built in MacBook microphone and GarageBand (so, very very lofi bad quality and very messy, but these songs make me cry because of the freedom I feel in them and a deep love for the person I was then - freshly moved onto land in the foothills of the Cascades, running around with my friends in the woods barefoot and dirty, passionately trying to extract myself from civilization, skinning and eating roadkill, tanning hides, making fire by friction, scrambling joyfully trying to decondition my mind and my heart and my words and poetry and actions. I am that person still -and- I look up to her to be honest.)

Both of these songs were -completely- improvised as I was recording them. "Sung To Life" was a song for singing myself back into myself during a time I was feeling really sad.
"How Good to Be" was a freestyle ode to the light shining through my window into my room, being human in a body, and my blossoming devotion to Wildness.

All instrumentation and vocals by me, other than the drum machine.
Cello, harmonium, musical saw, guitar, recorder, lap harp, kazoo, mountain dulcimer!
